Jonathan Lewis

Trustee (Board)

I have been a member of Sinai since 1999, when my family moved to Leeds. I grew up in North London where we were members of Southgate and District Reform Synagogue (now Sha’arei Tsedek). I have previously served as chair, vice-chair and treasurer of Sinai and have returned to the board to help move us to the next stage of our journey following the departure of three rabbis in a very short period of time and as we start to return to a level of normality after the challenges of COVID. I have also served on the Board of the Movement for Reform Judaism (MRJ) and represented it as a Vice-President of the European Union for Progressive Judaism, and the Board of Deputies, was chair of MRJ’s Northern Network and a Sinai delegate to both the Board of Deputies and the Leeds Jewish Representative Council. I am a warden, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutor and am a trained facilitator for MRJ’s l’Chaim Course. Professionally, I am a Global Software Consultancy Director for one the major financial technology companies. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, including two young grandsons, travel and sports. I have recently taken up running and golf as an attempt to deny impending retirement.
